My daily work involves helping furniture makers like Jacky find the perfect rattan cane webbing. Rattan material comes in several forms. The main one is rattan cane webbing. This is a key material for chair seats, cabinet doors, and decorative panels. We offer natural rattan cane webbing. It is an eco-friendly product, natural, but its supply can be short at times. My experience shows that the grade of rattan truly matters. Rattan material comes in four grades: A, B, C, and D. Grade A is the best. It is also the most expensive and has a very clean look. Grade B is a middle grade. It offers good quality at a reasonable price. Grade C webbing is very strong, but it usually has green peel on it. I have found that Grade C is often the best choice for making rattan chairs. Especially if you plan to use dark colors for your rattan furniture. It is strong enough for chair seats, and it is also cheaper. The green peel does not show once the furniture is dark. However, it is not popular for furniture that needs light, natural colors. Grade D rattan webbing is beautiful. It has a nice natural color, but it is not strong. It breaks easily. So, it is best for decoration only, like wall or ceiling projects, not for furniture that needs to be load-bearing. Because of this, the cost of all rattan products went very high. Many customers struggled with these high prices. For small or big orders of rattan core and chair cane, buying from China became the best choice. This is because 90% of global buyers cannot import raw rattan from Indonesia themselves anymore. Since 2018, we have developed our Plastic Rattan Cane Webbing². This material costs about half the price of natural cane webbing. We listened to our customers, including hotel project designers like Peter from Maldives. They requested many colors, and we developed a wide range to fit their needs. We now offer many options: mix colors, mix weaving patterns, rattan webbing combined with wood, glass, or aluminum, and also bamboo webbing. We even have rattan + bamboo weaving.

Looking ahead to 2025, we are taking a big step forward. We are developing our webbing specifically for outdoor furniture manufacturers. In the past, all our webbing was only for indoor use. But from 2025, we will have more than 10 kinds of our Plastic Rattan Cane webbing that can be used for outdoor furniture. We have test reports to show that our webbing can last a long time, even in hot environments. This is a game-changer for outdoor furniture. The biggest cost of outdoor rattan furniture is human weaving. But if manufacturers use our outdoor plastic cane webbing, they do not need to weave too much on the whole chair. This can save up to 80% on worker weaving costs. This also means more color choices are available. Our outdoor webbing can be used for KD (knock-down) rattan outdoor furniture, which makes assembly and shipping easier. Our two big plastic rattan cane webbing factories, with over 3000 square meters and more than 100 automatic weaving machines, develop more than 5 new products every year.
