Quality Concerns with Rattan Cane Webbing

We are writing to formally raise a concern regarding a noticeable increase in reported breakages and brittleness in the rattan recently supplied to us. Over the past 2 years, we have observed a higher-than-usual incidence of splitting and structural failure during both production and normal use.

This is particularly concerning as the rattan is used in chair manufacturing, where durability and structural integrity are critical to product safety, longevity, and customer satisfaction. The brittleness we are experiencing raises concerns about the suitability of the material for its intended application.

We would appreciate your comments on this issue and any insight into potential causes. In addition, please advise what steps are currently being taken — or will be taken — to ensure that supply quality is improved and that future shipments meet the required durability standards.

Given the safety implications, we would welcome a prompt response and, if necessary, a discussion to agree on corrective actions and quality assurance measures going forward, particularly in light of us having recently placed an order for supply after your return from CNY.

1) We supply the rattan items is : Semi Bleached Rattan Cane Webbing

2) Why will it happen with the problem above?

First, It is natural webbing. After half years, it will become more yellow and easy to breakages and brittleness.

Second, now our rattan raw material Import from Indonesia is not as good as before. The main reason is rattan is ban for export from Indonesia, so all the rattan raw material is smuggle from the importers, they all control the quality and price. Now also shortage suplly by the A good quality of the raw material.

This is the main reason why our quality is not good as before.But we now is trying our best to supply you the good quality of the rattan cane webbing from Chinese Market.

#### 3) Our idea for you to deal with your furniture making problem:

**First: Use C grade insted of A grade**
Why?
As C grade just color is not good, but it is the older natural rattan.
It will be **3-5 years old** of the rattan.
But A grade just the 1-2 years of the natural rattan.

Second, Use paper rattan cane webbing instead of the natural webbing：

Why?
30% cheaper
Eco-friendly
Strong enough for furniture making of black of the chair and the seat of the chair.
As it have a core in the paper peel, very strong for furniture making.
