Step 1: Soak the Rattan Webbing
Rattan is a natural material that is brittle when dry. Before you start, soak the webbing in warm water for 30-40 minutes. This not only makes it pliable and easy to work with but implies a crucial trick: rattan expands when wet and shrinks when dry, ensuring a tight, drum-like finish after installation.

Step 3: Rough Cut and Position
Take the soaked rattan out and pat it dry with a towel. Lay it over the back of the cabinet door. Cut a piece that is slightly larger than the opening (leave an extra 2-3 cm on each side for stapling).

Step 4: Staple It Down
This is the critical step! Staple the top edge first, pull the webbing straight, and staple the bottom. Then do the left side, followed by the right. Important: You don’t need to pull it "extremely" tight, as the rattan will tighten naturally as it dries. If you pull too hard now, it might warp the wooden frame when it shrinks.

Step 5: Trim and Dry
Once stapled, use sharp scissors to trim away the excess webbing around the edges for a clean look. Now, let the doors dry naturally in a cool, ventilated area. After a few hours, you’ll notice the webbing has become taut and flat—pure perfection!
