I have seen many designers, like Peter with his hotel projects, choose rattan panels¹ to create a luxurious and natural feel. Rattan is an eco-friendly product from nature. We source most of our rattan for weaving from Indonesia. However, since 2018, the Indonesian government has banned the export of raw rattan material. This has made the supply very short in China. Because of this, the cost of all rattan products is very high. Many of our customers cannot accept these high prices.

Rattan material has four grades: A, B, C, and D. A grade is the best and most expensive. B grade is in the middle. C grade has a green peel on it, but it is strong enough. In fact, Grade C is often the best choice for making rattan chairs because it is strong, but its color with green peel makes it less popular. If your rattan furniture or chairs will have a dark color, Grade C is really the best choice for chair seats and backs. Grade D is very beautiful, but it is not strong enough; it breaks easily. So, it does not fit for furniture making. Instead, it is best for project decoration, like wall or ceiling decorations. I often recommend Grade D rattan panels for decorative wall or ceiling projects. While natural rattan supply is short, we maintain a good stock of rattan cane webbing. We also offer rattan webbing combined with wood, glass, or aluminum. These options help us provide more design choices and manage costs for our global customers.

When I speak with customers like Adel, who need big orders with good quality and a lower price, I often suggest bamboo panels⁴. All our bamboo comes from China. There is a full supply here, so we do not have any shortage problems like we do with rattan. Bamboo is also a very cheap material in China because it grows very fast. This makes it a great choice for eco-friendly projects and for customers looking to control their costs.

Since 2018, with natural rattan costing more and having a shorter supply, we worked hard to develop our Plastic Rattan Cane Webbing. This has become very popular. It costs about half the price of natural cane webbing. We have developed many colors and patterns for our plastic webbing, which helps furniture makers and hotel designers find the perfect match. We can even do mix colors and mix weaving patterns, or combine them with wood, glass, or aluminum to make a full panel.

A new item in 2024 is our PETG Rattan Panel. This is very popular in the decoration material market because it is very easy for ceiling and wall cover decoration. It is waterproof, non-fire, and we can make it in custom sizes as per customer’s request. PETG Rattan Panels combine high-strength PETG plastic with a woven rattan texture. This makes a lightweight yet durable decorative solution. These panels offer the natural look of rattan with the weather resistance and flexibility of PETG, making them great for both indoor and outdoor use.

For 2025, we are also developing our webbing to fit outdoor furniture manufacturers. In the past, all our webbing only fit for inside. But since 2025, we will have more than 10 kinds of our Plastic Rattan Cane webbing that can be used for outdoor furniture. We have test reports to show our customers that our webbing can last a long time in hot environments. This is great for Jacky, who makes outdoor furniture. The biggest cost for outdoor rattan furniture is human weaving. But using our outdoor plastic cane webbing, we do not need to weave too much on the whole chair. This can save 80% of the worker weaving cost. We offer more color choices, and it can be used for KD (knock-down) rattan outdoor furniture. Our two big plastic rattan cane webbing factories have over 3000 square meters, more than 100 automatic weaving machines, 20+ weaving patterns, and 15+ colors. We develop more than 5 new products every year.
